Professor Abdulrazaq G. Habib

Professor Habib is an infectious and tropical diseases physician and epidemiologist. He was formerly Dean Faculty of Medicine and later Foundation Provost College of Health Sciences, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria (BUK). His interests include infections, tropical snakebite and global health and has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Habib is supported by the NIHR (UK) and is a co-Director the Scientific Research Partnership for Next Generation Snakebite Therapies (SRPNTS) that is supported by DfID (UK). Abdul is a member of several professional societies and the current president of the Nigerian Infectious Diseases Society, former Head of the Infectious Diseases Sub-Specialty at the West African College of Physicians and a Trustee of the Toxinology Society of Nigeria. He has served on several boards and committees in Nigeria, currently serving as a member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group, National Drug Safety Advisory Committee and the chairman Noma (Cancrum Oris) Technical Advisory Group, Nigeria. He is an international advisor of the Royal College of Physicians, London (UK), a member of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on meningococcal meningitis vaccination at WHO, Geneva, Switzerland and a board member of the Australian based Global Snakebite Initiative (GSI).

A native of Kano he is a consultant physician in Infectious and Tropical Diseases at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, Nigeria.

Dr. Oliver Ezechi

Dr. Oliver Ezechi is a Director of Research, Consultant Obstetrician - Gynaecologist and Public Health Specialist  at the Department of Clinical Sciences , Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Lagos (NIMR). He graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Benin, Benin city, Nigeria with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1991. He also has three Masters’ degrees in public administration, public health and physiology from Obafemi Awolowo University and Universities of Lagos respectively; and a PhD in public health sciences from Lund University, Lund Sweden. He is a fellow of both National and West African Postgraduate Medical Colleges of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Royal Society of Public Health (UK).  He has been in active clinical, obstetrics and gynaecology practice for almost three decades. After completing his Residency training at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Ile Ife in 1999, he worked as a full time Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecology at the high brow Havana Specialist Hospital in Surulere Lagos for 4 years (2000 - 2004), before joining the services of Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Lagos. He is a visiting consultant OBGYN to Havana Specialist Hospital, Rao Specialist Hospital and New Capstone Specialist Hospital, all in Lagos 

Dr Ezechi is an adjunct faculty at the Social Medicine and Global health, Lund University, Sweden, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Public Health, Lead City University , Ibadan.  , Chair of the NIMR Institutional Review Board, Editor in Chief of Nigerian Journal of Clinical and Biomedical Research and member of many Editorial Board as well as Reviewer for over ten PubMed indexed journals.  He was the immediate past Head of Department Clinical Sciences, NIMR, recipient of the International Association of National Public Institute Heymans Fellowship and Director Generals Prize for an Outstanding Research staff. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications, co-edited two books, authored or co-authored 10 chapters on women’s health, Infectious diseases, research and research methods. He is also an examiner in both the Part I and II postgraduate examination of the Faculty of the Obstetrics and Gynecology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. He is the Chairman, Scientific Subcommittee, of the New HIV Vaccine and Microbicide Advocacy Society. He is either a Principal Investigator, Coinvestigator or Country Lead for a number of multicenter clinical studies including the NIH funded ITest project and Emory – Nigerian Research Training Programme. His interests include women’s health, HIV epidemiology and Global health. As a Director of Research at the apex Medical Research Institute in Nigeria, Dr. Ezechi’s main priorities over the next couple of years is to use implementation science strategy to improve the uptake of women health, reproductive health and HIV services,  and contribute to reducing the burden of reproductive ill health in the country.

Professor Catherine Olufunke Falade

Professor Catherine Olufunke Falade obtained her clinical training from the University of Ibadan and had her residency training at the University College Hospital Ibadan. She holds both the National and West Africa Postgraduate Medical Fellowships as well as an MSC in Pharmacology. She was appointed Lecturer 1 in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, University of Ibadan in 1994 and rose through the ranks to the grade of Professor in 2008. She is a consultant Clinical Pharmacologist to the University College Hospital. Her research efforts have focused on various aspects of pharmacology with emphasis on malaria especially in children and pregnant women. She has engaged in multidisciplinary collaboration with biomedical researchers globally. She received many research grants from national and international agencies. Prof Falade also serves in advisory capacity to State and National Malaria Control programs, Pharmaceutical industries and international agencies. She has held many administrative positions in both the University of Ibadan and the UCH. She is currently the Director, Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training, UI. Prof Falade has over 120 publications in peer reviewed journals and is actively involved in training various cadres of future generations of healthcare providers and academics in Nigeria at all levels.

Dr Morenike Ukpong

Dr Morenike Ukpong currently work as a researcher with the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. she is very proficient with the use and reporting of data. This earned her the recognition of the 19th of 28 top academic researchers in Nigeria (http://www.opinions.ng/see-list-28-published-scholars-nigeria/). she is an avid researcher with over 170 publications in peer review journals. She has been able to successfully combine her research with advocacy and community engagement activities. She has been involved with and led multiple national research, monitoring, evaluation and strategic planning efforts. She has led the design and implementing of several training programs on grants, proposal writing, manuscript publication, and bioethics training for ethics committee members. She has worked with peers to develop a few gender mainstreaming training curriculum. She has participated in several national, regional and international agenda‐setting initiatives relating to biomedical HIV prevention technology including serving as temporary Adviser to the WHO and UNAIDS Headquarters in Geneva, member of the a few National Technical Working Groups and Track committee member co-Chair and Chairs for ICASA and IAS Conferences. she had also served on the CROI Community Subcommittee and the Program Organizing Committee of the Research for Prevention Conference.

Prof Oyeku OYELAMI

Prof Oyeku OYELAMI is a professor in the Department of Paediatrics and child health, College of Medicine, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He completed his basic medical degree in 1978 after which he obtained the Fellowship of the West African College of Physician in the Faculty of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1988. His research interests are in General Paediatrics and Paediatrics Infectious diseases. Prof Oyelami has published extensively with over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has served as external examiner to many universities in Nigeria and is also a reviewer for many scientific journals. He is a member of many professional bodies such as the Nigerian Medical Association, Paediatric Infectious Diseases Society of Nigeria and, World Congress of the Paediatric Infectious Diseases among others. He has received many distinguished awards locally and internationally.

Professor Tanimola Makanjuola AKANDE

Professor Tanimola Makanjuola AKANDE is a Professor of Public Health with University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria and a Consultant Public Health Physician with University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. He is a specialist in Health Management. He studied Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University where he graduated in 1984. He is a member West African College of Physicians and Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College and Institute of Chartered Management Consultants. He was at various times Head, Department of Epidemiology & Community Health, University of Ilorin. He served in various Committees, Technical Working Groups and as Consultant to Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and several international agencies and partners (including WHO, UNICEF, EU PRIME, PATH 2, HFG-USAID) both in Nigeria and other countries including Ghana, Liberia, Zimbabwe and Kenya. He was the National Chairman of Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN) from 2013 – 2017. He was a member World Health Organization African Region Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Measles and Rubella. He is a Senior Researcher with Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) since 2007 that conducted Impact Evaluation of Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme supported by Dutch Health Insurance Fund.
He is currently a member of the Governing Council of Bingham University, Karu; Member Top Management Committee (TMC) University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital; Member Implementation Committee of the National Health Act; Member, Expert Review Committee (ERC) on Poliomyelitis Eradication Initiative and Routine Immunization in Nigeria. He is also a member, Board of Trustees PharmAccess Foundation Nigeria; Board of Trustees Centre for Afri-Health Development; Board of Trustees African Civil Society for the Care and Support of Tuberculosis Patients (ACT). He is also a Member of Board of Directors, Josephine Consults. He is a seasoned academic with over 170 publications in reputable peer reviewed local and international journals and has supervised 7 PhD students and over 15 Fellows in Public Health. He is happily married with three Children.
